EDI Clearinghouses
AppMed is a HIPAA approved vendor for the following EDI (electronic data interchange)
clearinghouses. Clearinghouses are entities to which you can send electronic
claims for several different payers. In some cases these claims can be sent free
of charge. Others charge a nominal monthly fee.
- Gateway EDI
Gateway EDI is a national all payer clearinghouse based in St. Louis Missuri.
A monthly fee applies. Internet transmission of claims makes this particularly user
friendly.
- Availity
Availity is pperated by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida, this clearinghouse
accepts Blue shield claims from Florida providers.
THIN (The Health Information Network):
Operated jointly by BCBS of Texas and BCBS of Illinois, this is available in the
states of Texas and Illinois. This clearinghouse will collect commercial
and BCBS claims for free. A small fee may apply for Medicare and
Medicaid claims.
- Clear Connect
Operated by BCBS of Minnesota, this
clearinghouse is available for users in that state. Claims for
America's PPO (the ARAZ group), Group Health Cooperative, HealthPartners,
MN Blue Cross and Blue Shield, MN DHS/Medicaid, Medicare Part A and B and
Preferred One can all be sent directly free of charge. Clear Connect
is currently working to contract with THIN to accept other commercial claims.
- Anthem EDI
Anthem EDI allows you to send Blue Shield claims for Colorado Connecticut, Indiana,
Kentucky, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virginia.
- Wellmark
Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield maintains a facility with EC Solutions where
providers in Iowa and South Dakota can send Blue Shield claims.
